The mould growth depicted in the
photo shows very serious, advance, likely-toxic mould growth from which
airborne mould spores will be continually traveling in air currents to exist
the hole to mould cross contaminate your entire home. Leaving that mould
growth exposed for 5 weeks is likely to have spread elevated levels mould
spores everywhere in your home. To know the precise mould species
growing therein, follow the mould lab
mold sample collection procedures. You need to totally mould inspect
your home for mould growth elsewhere, including hidden mould growth inside
walls, ceilings, floors, heating/cooling equipment and ducts, etc. Mould
testing tips are provided below. Learn the 25 steps for safe and
effective
mold remediation at
http://www.moldinspector.com/mold_removal.htm Use do it yourself
mold test kits.
Here are several helpful mold
tips.
Mould health problems usually arise from
the cumulative breathing in of airborne mould spores over time in a
moldy home, apartment, or workplace.
To get rid
of the mould threat to your health and real estate investment, first, check
your home or other building for water intrusion problems. Make sure your
kitchen and bathroom exhaust vents go directly to the outside, not into your
attic or inside walls. Check your home or building carefully for roof,
siding, plumbing water leaks, construction defects, or maintenance
degradation, which permit water to enter your home. Properly vent the attic
to allow moisture to escape rather than collect in the attic. Attic mould
easily grows into the walls and ceilings below.
Check all areas of your house or building year round [including basement,
crawl space, each room, attic and garage] for the possibility of high indoor
humidity with a $30 hygrometer from a large hardware store, Home Depot, or
Lowe's. If the humidity exceeds 50 to 60 percent some or all of the year,
you have invited mould to be your permanent building resident. Use a
programmable dehumidifier to keep indoor moisture to a mould-discouraging 30
to 40%. Air conditioning systems should be checked to ensure
that they drain properly and do not retain moisture. Moisture, along
with dust particles that occur in the system, creates a breeding ground for
mould that spread via the heating/cooling system through out the house or
building. You should visually check all areas of your home or
building with a flashlight and your sense of smell [e.g., duct registers,
attic, crawl space, basement, etc] in accordance with the physical mould
inspection tips provided at
Mold Inspection.
You would also be wise to carefully inspect and mould test your car, van,
pickup truck, and recreational vehicle for mould problems that may have been
started by the transfer of mould spores from your moldy home or workplace
into the inside of your vehicle due to elevated levels of airborne mould
spores being deposited on your hair, skin, clothing, and shoes.
Low Cost Mould Sample Collection Techniques: 1. For visible
mould growth infestations and for surfaces you wish to test for mould, use
the Scotch®Tape
Lift Sampling technique; and 2. To mould test
the air of each room, attic, basement, crawl space, garage, and the outward
air flow from each heating/cooling duct register for the possible presence
of elevated levels of airborne mould spores, in comparison to your outdoor
mould control test, use do-it-yourself Mold Test Kits. You obtain accurate
mould laboratory analysis and mould species identification of your lift tape
samples and mould test kits by mailing or expressing them to our mold
laboratory. You can also use do it yourself mold test kits to mould test any
visible mould growths as an alternative to Lift Tape Sampling, plus mould
test the air inside the passenger compartment of your vehicles [often mould
cross contaminated if your home or office is mould infested]. If there is
even a hidden mould problem inside the basement, crawl space, attic, walls,
ceilings, and the heating/cooling system, usually detectable airborne mould
spores will make it into the air. If the indoor mould levels are elevated in
comparison to your outdoor mould control test, you know that you probably
have a serious mould problem which needs further investigation and possible
mould remediation.

Become a Certified Mold Inspector and
Certified Mold Remediator through our
distance training
program. If you are going to move out from your present mould hell, or
just move out temporarily during mould remediation, you should carefully
mould inspect and test your temporary or new quarters prior to renting or
buying and moving to make sure you are not moving from one mould hell to
another. As for your personal property, you are wise to do mould
decontamination by washing all items outdoors by washing them thoroughly
with borax laundry detergent, a natural mold cleaner, to remove mould
spores, mould growths, mould stains, and mould odors. While doing this mould
decontamination, you need to wear rubber gloves and a 3M brand breathing
mask [organic vapor filters] from a large hardware or home improvement
store. Then, after drying, use your
home made fungicide is to kill any remaining [impossible to see with the
naked eye] mould spores and mould growth. If you cannot clean off the mould
growth, that tells you that you probably need to replace the building
materials themselves with new ones, pretreated with both
mold killer recipe
and mold
prevention fungicide. |
